I know what you're thinking. After looking at all of my other entries, "...That's it?"
But there's a story behind this simple piece of cardboard. A story, my friends, that dates back to... pretty much the beginning of time, I think.
When my dad was a kid, he and my uncle used to play with this "Getaway Chase" game ALL THE TIME. It eventually broke and got thrown out (not recycled... damn throwaway society!). Recently, my mom has found the joys of eBay, found a used one, and showed my dad. It was all working and no parts were missing- like a dream come true. So, my parents bid on it, after telling my uncle about it. It seems like my dad isn't the only feeling nostalgic- the bids quickly soared upwards of $100... a little past our ideal spending limit for just one toy. Weeks came and went and my mom still kept an eye out for the game, but most were insanely expensive, missing pieces, or altogether broken. My uncle tried bidding on a few, too, but he couldn't win any for low enough prices, either.
As you can see from the picture, my dad's dreams have finally been realized. This Getaway Chase game is in our den, fully operational and with all of the original parts. My mom got it off of eBay for just under $100. :)
My dad played with it for five minutes with my mom and I... and then put it on the couch (where you see it now).
